Panmure House is situated on Taybridge Road, one of the finest streets in Aberfeldy flanked on either side by large stone-built Victorian houses, which leads north to one of the most romantic and awe inspiring bridges in Scotland, which Marshall Wade built over the Tay in 1733. It consists of five graceful arches and was reckoned as the greatest architectural wonder of the North in its day, being the climax of Wades’, ten year in the construction of roads and bridges in the highlands from Perth and Crieff to Inverness, which opened up previously wild and inaccessible highland countryside.
Panmure House sits only 200 yards from this amazing structure, which spans the silvery Tay and alongside the bridge can be found the lofty cairn of the Black Watch monument. This unique historic edifice has a backdrop of the magnificent scenery of Weem Rock rising steeply above the valley floor. This is the setting and vista experienced from Panmure, a charming and recently refurbished spacious, semi-detached period villa of distinctive Art Nouveau design in a desirable location within walking distance of the Aberfeldy golf course and other local services. The property retains many of its original features such as the period fireplaces throughout and the attractive natural wood finishes and has undergone an owner’s own programme of extensive refurbishment. This includes the fitting of a new kitchen and an en-suite shower room to the master bedroom. The house also has recently been tastefully redecorated throughout with new coordinating furniture, curtains and carpets provided in every room.
As you enter the front door of Panmure there is a bright, spacious sitting room with a bay window and TV, an ornate fireplace and timber hard wood floor with rug. This room has a pleasant view out to Taybridge Road and the hills beyond. Adjacent is the light and airy family room looking out towards the garden and drive again with an attractive fireplace as a focal point and has a hard wood floor with rug, TV and DVD player. This room in turn links via a central corridor through to the dining room, which can seat seven comfortably. The dining room then leads to the fitted kitchen area, which contains a fridge, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher with a freezer, and tumble drier in the utility room beyond.
On the first floor there are four bedrooms, two containing queen sized beds and a further twin room and one single. The main bedroom lies to the front of the house and has a Victorian style ornate metal bed on a pine floor with rugs and boasts splendid views out the large bay windows to the majestic hills of Highland Perthshire. This bedroom has an en-suite toilet and shower room. Also to the front of the house there is a single sunny bedroom with pine bed and pine flooring.
Moving towards the rear of the house there is another queen-sized bedroom again with a Victorian style bed and a handsome pine dresser with views to the rear garden and the hills beyond. The final bedroom contains two pine beds and a wash-hand basin and ornate fire surround. This room lies to the rear of the house overlooking the garden and hills to the south of Aberfeldy. On the first floor there is also bathroom with wash hand basin that lies alongside a separate room with a toilet.
There is a cloakroom and toilet on the ground floor to the rear area of the house, which leads out to the fully enclosed garden. The mature garden has an extensive grass lawn enclosed by a stone wall, a hedge and peripheral tree planting. There is a sunny patio area with garden furniture and a secure shed in which bicycles can be stored.
Panmure has a radio/CD player, a book library, iron and board. Duvets with linen are provided and ample towels for all guests are provided free of charge. There is a payphone, which takes incoming calls. The garden is large and secure and car-parking area is private and safe and can take three cars. Local shops, pubs restaurants, riverside walks, putting green, golf course and children's play park are all within 150 yards. Payment for fuel is at standard domestic tariffs by meter reading on entry and departure.
